Project Overview

How we completed the restoration

In April 2026, Fibreglaze restored the 8.5 x 4 m vinyl-lined pool in Manly West, Queensland. The pool presented with a deteriorated vinyl liner, deteriorated tiled areas, and a stained, rough or dated interior, requiring careful assessment and preparation before resurfacing.

The existing vinyl liner was removed and disposed of, the deteriorated tiled areas were prepared, and surface irregularities were corrected with resin-based screeding and filler. A new structural fibreglass laminate was installed, and the pool was completed in Dove Grey Speckle using the Fibreglaze Enduratec finishing system.

Work completed

  • Prepared the pool for the Fibreglaze Enduratec resurfacing system.
  • Removed and disposed of the deteriorated vinyl liner.
  • Prepared deteriorated tiled areas for the new lining.
  • Corrected stained, rough and uneven areas with resin-based screeding and filler.
  • Installed a new structural fibreglass laminate.
  • Applied the Dove Grey Speckle AquaGuard finish.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

What the client said

Absolute experts at converting a liner pool with a concrete shell (no idea why people used to choose liners, they’re a complete pain to maintain) to a fibreglass version that looks like a new pool. The team were efficient and delivered work to a high standard. The cost was only marginally more than replacing the liner, and fibreglass was able to cover all the way to the paver line making it a much more water tight and future proof option.

POOL ISSUES

Issues addressed in this pool

These were the main pool conditions recorded for this project. Select an issue to learn more about its common signs, possible causes and repair considerations.

Degrading Tiles

Loose tiles, eroded grout and cracked tiled areas can allow water behind the finish and create sharp or unstable surfaces. The tiling and substrate must be assessed before removal, repair or encapsulation is selected.

Failed Vinyl-liner

Ageing vinyl liners can fade, wrinkle, stretch, split or pull away from fittings and tracks. Removing the liner allows the concealed pool structure to be inspected before repair, levelling and conversion to a reinforced fibreglass interior.

Rough, Stained or Dated

Staining, roughness and an outdated finish can make a sound pool unpleasant to use and difficult to maintain. The underlying cause must be identified before the surface is cleaned, levelled and restored.
