Project Overview

How we completed the restoration

In March 2023, Fibreglaze restored the 10 x 5 m fibreglass-lined concrete pool in Edenville, New South Wales. The pool presented with delamination and deteriorated tiling, requiring careful assessment and preparation before resurfacing.

The delaminated lining and deteriorated tiled areas were repaired and prepared, and surface irregularities were corrected with resin-based screeding and filler. A new structural fibreglass laminate was installed, and the pool was completed in Sapphire Blue Speckle using the Fibreglaze Enduratec finishing system.

Work completed

  • Prepared the pool for the Fibreglaze Enduratec resurfacing system.
  • Repaired delaminated areas back to a sound profile.
  • Prepared deteriorated tiled areas for the new lining.
  • Corrected surface irregularities with resin-based screeding and filler.
  • Installed a new structural fibreglass laminate.
  • Applied the Sapphire Blue Speckle AquaGuard finish.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

What the client said

I am very happy with the service I received from Fibreglaze, Sarah was very helpful in the office following up on any inquiry and providing prompt advice. The guys that re-glassed the pool done a great job, they worked in very hot conditions but were always friendly and approachable in providing advice. Overall I am very happy with the service I received and the pool looks great.

POOL ISSUES

Issues addressed in this pool

These were the main pool conditions recorded for this project. Select an issue to learn more about its common signs, possible causes and repair considerations.

Delamination

Delamination occurs when layers of a fibreglass pool or an earlier lining lose their bond. Hollow, lifted or soft areas must be removed to sound material before the laminate can be rebuilt and resurfaced.

Degrading Tiles

Loose tiles, eroded grout and cracked tiled areas can allow water behind the finish and create sharp or unstable surfaces. The tiling and substrate must be assessed before removal, repair or encapsulation is selected.

Wearing & Fading

A faded, chalky or worn pool surface can become rough, porous and harder to keep clean. The condition should be assessed before resurfacing so weak material is removed and underlying defects are repaired.
