Project Overview

How we completed the restoration

In November 2025, Fibreglaze restored the 8.5 x 4 m vinyl-lined pool in Cleveland, Queensland. The pool presented with a deteriorated vinyl liner, deteriorated tiled areas and a stained, rough or dated finish, requiring careful assessment and preparation before resurfacing.

The deteriorated liner was removed, and the exposed pool structure and tiled areas were prepared for conversion to a fibreglass lining. Resin-based screeding and filler corrected surface irregularities before a new structural fibreglass laminate and the Fibreglaze Enduratec finishing system were installed. The pool was completed in Lagoon Blue Speckle as a smooth, seamless surface.

Work completed

  • Prepared the pool for the Fibreglaze Enduratec resurfacing system.
  • Removed the deteriorated vinyl liner and prepared the exposed pool structure.
  • Prepared and incorporated deteriorated tiled areas into the new lining.
  • Corrected the stained, rough or dated surface with resin-based screeding and filler.
  • Installed a new structural fibreglass laminate.
  • Applied the Lagoon Blue Speckle AquaGuard finish.

POOL ISSUES

Issues addressed in this pool

These were the main pool conditions recorded for this project. Select an issue to learn more about its common signs, possible causes and repair considerations.

Degrading Tiles

Loose tiles, eroded grout and cracked tiled areas can allow water behind the finish and create sharp or unstable surfaces. The tiling and substrate must be assessed before removal, repair or encapsulation is selected.

Failed Vinyl-liner

Ageing vinyl liners can fade, wrinkle, stretch, split or pull away from fittings and tracks. Removing the liner allows the concealed pool structure to be inspected before repair, levelling and conversion to a reinforced fibreglass interior.

Rough, Stained or Dated

Staining, roughness and an outdated finish can make a sound pool unpleasant to use and difficult to maintain. The underlying cause must be identified before the surface is cleaned, levelled and restored.
